The insults were flying nonstop. Debby’s phone was heating up in her palm, buzzing every two seconds.
“Na you scatter everything!”
“Shut up before I drag you here!”
“Snake! Ashawo! Liar!”
Seven women, one group chat, and no brakes.
Then Kemi’s name popped up.
For once, her message wasn’t an insult.
“Enough of all this noise. If you really want to settle this, let’s meet face-to-face. Over lunch.”
Silence.
Typing bubbles blinked, disappeared, blinked again. Nobody wanted to be the first to respond.
Then Ada exploded.
“You dey craze? Lunch ke? If you know what’s good for you, no show your face anywhere near me!”
Another chimed in.
“Yes oh! Try am, Kemi, you go know say I dey craze!”
Debby covered her mouth, half laughing, half terrified. The energy had shifted. This wasn’t just talk anymore.
And then—ping.
“Babes, check your phones.”
Kemi again.
Everyone froze.
But nothing appeared in the group.
Confused typing started.
“Where’s the location?”
“Kemi drop am here nah!”
“Stop forming mystery, abeg.”
Still, no map in the group.
Because Kemi had sent the address privately.
One by one. Selectively.
Debby’s phone buzzed. She opened the message. A map location.
Her stomach knotted.
Who else got it? Who didn’t?
The chat boiled again.
“Kemi! Don’t play with us!”
“So you dey form VIP now?”
“Better no try nonsense oh.”
And while the others cursed, Debby just stared at her screen.
Because for the first time since the chaos began, she realized—
Kemi wasn’t just calming things down.
She was stirring something bigger.
Kemi had just set the stage.
Was it for lunch?
Or for war?
